

Ferdinand J. (Ferdy) Ivey, a native and resident of Baton Rouge, died Saturday, September 20, 2014, at the Heritage Manor Nursing Home. He was 89. He was a graduate of State High School and L.S.U. (Baton Rouge). He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Pacific during World War II. He received the following citations: American Theater Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with 3 BRONZ STARS, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal. Mr. Ivey served as the Assistant Secretary of the Office of Tax Administration of the LA State Revenue Department, as Colonel on the staff of Governor David Treen and as Aide de Camp, Governor's Staff. He retired from the revenue department after a life-long career there. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home will be Thursday, Sept. 25, 11:00 am to 1:00 p.m. Service is at 1:00 in the Chapel of Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St. with Rev. Colleen Bookter officiating. Interment will be in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Survivors include his son Clifton J. Ivey, Sr. and wife, Nina; grandson, Clifton J. Ivey, Jr.; sisters-in-law, Geneva Ivey and Pauline Loker ; brother-in-law, David Stanley; nieces, Patricia Whittington, Janet Fakouri, Nancy Hart, and Jane Douciere. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty C. Ivey; his parents, Charlie Ivey, Sr. and Elnora Charlton Ivey; sister, Elma Jean Ivey; brother, Charles C. Ivey, Jr.; uncle, Elmo Charlton; aunts; Beatrice Charlton Wolf and Elma Charlton Hall. Pallbearers will be Glenn Constantino, Doug Levet, Clifton Ivey, Sr. and Clifton Ivey, Jr. The family wishes to thank all who helped care for him.
