Eunice Mary Plaisance was born April 1, 1921, in Convent, LA to Prosper and Esther Lambert Plaisance. She succumbed on January 24, 2013 in Baton Rouge. She graduated as valedictorian from Romeville High School at age 17. During World War II she served in the Women’s Army Corp (WAC) from 1942-1943. She returned to Baton Rouge where she was employed by Standard Oil Company and subsequently retired from Exxon after 39 years of service. She was a long-time resident of Central and member of St. Alphonsus Church. In recent years she was a resident of Williamsburg Senior Living Community. Her marriage to John J. Laurent on June 8, 1946 ended with his death on December 22, 2011. She is survived by son Gene J. Laurent and wife Kathy and daughter Marlene L. Gonzales. Surviving grandchildren include Kim Schexnayder of Duson, LA, Rob Laurent of Chesterfield, VA and Kristen Gonzales of Houston, TX. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, a brother Leo (Dick) Plaisance and wife Esther, sister-in law Jackie Plaisance and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers Clifford, Larry and Nolan Plaisance. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home 9595 Florida Blvd. on Friday, January 25, 2013, from 5 PM until 8 PM and will resume on Saturday, January 26, 2013, from 9 AM until service at 10 AM. Interment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. In lieu of flower or plants, please send donations to St. Joseph’s Hospice or the charity of your choice.
