A resident of Denham Springs, LA born in Sikes, LA passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at Maison De Fleur Assisted Living Home in Denham Springs. In loving memory of Laverne, a cherished soul who graced our lives for 94 beautiful years. She peacefully departed, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and love. Laverne is survived by her devoted son, James Wayne Hardin (Angela Sims Hardin) two granddaughters, Heather Hardin Shipley (Jeremy), Kali Hardin Glueck (Nicholas) and four adoring great grandchildren, Sutton, Noah, Claire and Declan, and sister, Brenda Curry Marinello. Preceded in death by husband James R. Hardin, mother, Lucille Tullier Curry and father, Dennis A. Curry; brothers, L.C. Curry, Charles Curry and sisters, Margie Dalby and Cornelia Johnson. She worked at Southern Bell for 15 years, then worked for American Greetings for several years.
Her passion for baking was a delight shared by family and friends, creating lasting memories filled with great taste of her creations – especially her coconut cake. A devout follower of Jesus, her faith illuminated her path, bringing comfort and strength to those around her. Laverne found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Her love extended beyond family to shopping adventures with friends where she shared laughter and stories.
As we mourn her physical absence, we celebrate a life well-lived and a spirit that will forever resonate in our hearts. May her soul find eternal peace, and may her memory continue to inspire love, kindness, and the joy she so generously shared.
We would like to thank the caring and wonderful staff at Maison De Fleur and St. Joseph Hospice for the help and care shown throughout this time.
