She was 97 and a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, La. She was a strong Christian, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. All who knew her will miss her contagious smile, joyful personality and zest for life. She loved to travel and tell of her experiences. Her favorite place was the mountains of North Carolina. Ellen was a role model and faithful friend to many. She loved sending cards on special occasions.
She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church and an Honorary Life Member of Presbyterian Women, an honor she greatly cherished, a member and past president of Chapter AA of PEO Sisterhood and a member of ADIl Sorority at LSU.
In her immediate family, she is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Redman (Dale) of Baton Rouge; grandsons, Douglas Redman (Rebecca) of Ridgeland, MS, Gregory Redman of Prosper, TX, and Scott Redman (Maureen) of Frisco, TX; great-grandchildren, Ward, Caroline, Georgia, Daniel, Claire and Nora Redman; and a number of close friends that she considered family. She is preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Richard Fox; children, Karen Fox and Richard Fox, Jr. and parents, Jasper Smith and Kathleen Smith.
The family would like to sincerely thank her team from The Hospice of Baton Rouge for their loving and gentle care.
A celebration of Ellen's life will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Baton Rouge on October 26th with visiting at 10am followed by a service in the sanctuary at 11am.
