He was a longtime resident of Baton Rouge. He enjoyed watching LSU sports, gardening, fishing and was a natural at repairing just about anything. He always looked forward to morning coffee and conversation with his friend and neighbor, Leon Simar and traveling with their friends, Jay and Oceana Scardina. His greatest love was spending time with his wife and their growing family. He attended many special events for his grandchildren and great grandchildren and was always happy to help with babysitting.
He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Mary Lavigne Picou from Ponchatoula, LA and his three daughters, Carolyn P. Couvillion (Brent), Kathy P. Hubbell (Steve), and Rhonda P. Bohnenstiehl; six grandchildren, Jeremy B. Couvillion (Beth), Jill C. Barrilleaux (Eric), Amie H. Strickland (Carson), Todd S. Hubbell (Kelly), Jordan T. Bohnenstiehl and Scott A. Bohnenstiehl; eleven great grandchildren and his sister Beverly P. Costanza (Frank).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Dovie Picou, his sister Hazel P. Nicholas, and brother Harold L. Picou.
Visitation will be at St. Patrick Church, 12424 Brogdon Lane, Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 from 9:00 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am. Burial will be private.
A special thanks to his caregivers, GeorgeAnne Wells, Janice Ahaiwe, Pat Young and Ernestine Eubanks, who worked round the clock to make sure all his needs were met and to the nurses and staff at Hospice In His Care who kept him comfortable in his time of need.
His kindness and generosity will be missed by all who knew him.
