Dr. E. Victor "Doc" Vignes, a native of Biloxi, Mississippi and a resident of Baton Rouge passed peacefully on January 22, 2018, at the age of 83. He was preceded in death by his mother Helen White Vignes, his father John Valentine Vignes, and his brother Dr. John Todd Vignes. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara Palm Vignes; children Barbara Schatz Fowler and her husband John Fowler, Dr. Julie Vignes Bridges and her husband Dr. Sam Bridges, and E. Victor Vignes, Jr.; grandchildren Amelia Victoria Bridges and Jonathan Gabriel Bridges.
"Doc" graduated from Loyola School of Dentistry in New Orleans in 1959 and practiced for 44 years as a pediatric dentist until his retirement. He always had a special place in his heart for the handicapped and underprivileged, frequently providing care at no cost. He served on both the staff of Our Lady of the Lake and Baton Rouge General Hospitals, was a former president of his local professional association, and taught for a time at Louisiana State University Dental School in New Orleans.
"Doc" attended the University of Southern Mississippi on a music scholarship playing both the clarinet and the saxophone. His many interests included sailing, scuba diving, painting, jewelry making, hiking, traveling abroad, and flying. Of all his hobbies, "Doc" loved flying most of all and we wish him well on his final approach.
The family expresses their sincere appreciation to the team of healthcare providers at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. Visitation will be held Saturday, January 27, 2018, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 445 Marquette Ave., Baton Rouge at 9:00 AM with a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM. Burial will be immediately following at Greenoaks Memorial Park Cemetery, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA.
