"Edward Francis Ward, Jr., age 86, a native of New Orleans, La. and a resident of Baton Rouge for the last 72 years, passed away on Monday, November 13, 2017 at home, surrounded by his loving family, after a year-long battle with cancer. Born on July 2, 1931, he attended Catholic High School and graduated from Baton Rouge High. He was a graduate of Louisiana State University, having earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Pre-Med and Geology. He was an Independent Insurance Agent having his own agency for over 25 years, and was a member of the Independent Insurance Agents of La. and the Professional Insurance Agents of America. He was a longtime member of the Lakeshore Lions Club, and a founding member of the Capital Sertoma Club. He earned a lifetime membership in the Baton Rouge Chamber of Commerce in 1971 for bringing in the most memberships in one year, and for his efforts, was awarded a diamond embedded gold card. He was also a longtime member of the Baton Rouge Camellia Society and served as membership chairman for many years, up until his death. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Dorothy Perritt Ward; two daughters, Becky Ward Losavio and husband, Sam, Robin Ward Jumonville and husband, Francis; and grandchildren, Andrew Losavio, Lauren Losavio St. Romain and husband, Jordan, Ben Jumonville and wife, Lauren, and Todd Jumonville. Preceded in death by his parents, Edward F. Ward, Sr. and Marguerite August Ward of New Orleans, La., daughter, Erin Anne Ward, and sister, Shirley Ward Skinner. The family would like to thank Annette DeRouen, Ed's caregiver, for her care and concern during his final days, as well as his caring nurses, Lauren and Amy of Pinnacle Hospice. Visitation will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., Thursday, November 16, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. until religious service at 12:00 NOON p.m. Entombment to follow at St. George Catholic Church Mausoleum, Baton Rouge. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren and their spouses. He was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church. He enjoyed dancing, traveling, woodworking, gardening and his genealogy research, which took him on many trips throughout the United States and Europe. His proudest accomplishment was his family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Aloysius Catholic Church or Cancer Services of Baton Rouge.
