Edith Shellington

Edith Shellington passed away on Monday, September 26, 2022, at the age of 95. She was a native of Wimbledon, ND and a resident of Baton Rouge, LA. She was a retired real estate appraiser who loved to travel and a faithful Lutheran who enjoyed Bible study. Edith is predeceased by her husband, John; children, Charles, David, and Jacqueline; parents, Rev. W.A. and Esther Gerdes; and siblings, Paul Gerdes and Joanne Stephens. She is survived by her daughter, Martha Hess (Michael); grandchildren, Brandi Murry (Todd), D’Shea Yuslum, Dorian Hess (fiancé, Adam Dees), and Samantha Hess; great-grandchildren, Brandon (Nicky), Chase, Aiden, and Meredith Murry, Kayla Smith, Alyssa Reed, Jana and Caden Yuslum; great-great-grandchildren, Michael, Betty, Edith, John Patrick, Nathan, Sophia, Ayden, Isabelle, and Ally; and a host of other family members. Visitation will be held at Chapel of the Cross Lutheran Church, 3235 Dalrymple Dr., Baton Rouge, LA, on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, from 5pm until 7:30pm. Visitation will resume at Chapel of the Cross on Thursday, September 29, 2022, from 12pm until the time of funeral services at 2pm. Burial will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA.
