Eddye Leigh Bennett Boeneke, lovingly known as “Gigi”, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2021 after a hard fought and courageous battle with cancer. She was 74. She was born on March 8, 1947, and was raised and lived her life in Baton Rouge, La. Eddye was a graduate of Baton Rouge High School and attended Louisiana State University. She always put her heart into her work, most recently with the State of Louisiana. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. She is survived by her twins, daughter Brittany Boeneke Graffagnini and her husband Ryan, her son Rudolph “Chase” Boeneke, III and his wife Amanda, and her six grandchildren: Braxton, Marielle, Bennett, Audrey, Brynn, and Liliane. She is also survived by her brothers, Harley Bennett and Billy Bennett, and his wife Freida; her niece, Katy; and her “second mom” and friend, mother-in-law Dollie Boeneke. Eddye loved and devoted her life to the happiness of her children, but the true highlight of her life was being a grandmother to her grandchildren who all loved her deeply and will live by the example of devotion she imparted on them. She also loved her friends, which were many. She had a unique gift of connecting with people and creating special relationships with everyone who had the chance to meet her. Shopping, chatting, movies, reading, and any binge-worthy show were some of her favorite past times. No matter the circumstances, Eddye maintained a bright, positive outlook on life and generous heart, which will be missed and cherished by all who knew her. She is preceded in death by her parents, Edria Willard Bennett and Ruth Willie Bennett; her nephew, Craig Bennett; and her father-in-law, Rudy Boeneke. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation which will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Saturday, March 13, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
