Eddie Eugene Baker, After a long and courageous battle with cancer, a longtime resident of Central passed away on Monday, May 7th at the age of 57. Survived by his wife of 34 years, Carla Desselle Baker; Sons: Tyler Baker, girlfriend Kelly Scanlon, and Cody Baker, girlfriend Jamie Gremillion; Grandchildren: Brayden Baker and Paisley Gremillion. Also survived by brother Donnie Baker, sister and brother-in-law Stacy and Kevin Beadle, and brother-in-law John Desselle. Also survived by father-in-law John Desselle and fiancée Shirley LaPorte. Graduated from Baker High School in 1979. Worked for Albertsons and retired from Walmart after 20 years of service. Eddie enjoyed family gatherings surrounded by good food and playing boureé. One of his fondest memories were the times he spent coaching his sons’ baseball teams. He was affectionately referred to as “coach” by his players and still is today. Eddie was also an avid LSU and Saints fan. Anyone who knew Eddie also knew that Christmas time was his favorite time of the year. He was known throughout the Central Community for his elaborate Christmas decorations and lights. It brought him great joy in building his own displays and transforming his yard during the holiday season, not only for himself, but for everyone in the community to enjoy. Preceded in death by his parents: Donald and Kathleen Baker. Pallbearers: John Desselle, Kevin Beadle, Drew Beadle, Blake Beadle, Donnie Baker, and Kent Mayeux. A special thank you to the doctors and staff at Mary Bird Perkins, Our Lady of the Lake, The Crossing Hospice Home, and Pinnacle Hospice. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation to be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Thursday, May 10, 2018 from 8:30 am until funeral service at 12 pm.
