Doris Hanks Leger, a native of Crowley, LA and resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on March 4, 2023 at the age of 84. She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Gautreaux and Charlotte Leger; three grandchildren, Jeanne Simmons (Chad), Ashley Leger, and Brian Leger (Katie); five great-grandchildren, Skylar, Scarlett, Gage, Cannon, and Maddie; one brother, Lawrence Hanks; and two sisters, Sadie Lantier and Betty Gould. She is preceded in death by her parents, Gillis and Eunice Abshire Hanks; daughter, Cynthia Leger; son, Gillis Leger; great grandchild, Savannah McNair; four brothers, Harry, Forest, Mason, and Johnny Hanks; and one sister, Anna Gertrude Castille.
Doris was an avid gardener and LSU fan who also enjoyed solving jigsaw puzzles and making things. In her younger years she enjoyed water skiing and loved fashion. She will be remembered for always being “dressed to the nine” and for making the best jambalaya. The family would like to thank Junior and Glynda Leger for their support and help over the years and also Capitol Oaks and Hospice of Baton Rouge for their care.
