Born May 24, 1920, in Baton Rouge, on Sunday, April 10, 2016, she walked into the waiting arms of Jesus. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Evelyn Fenn and Melvin Vernon Gibbens; two stepfathers, N.J. Budd and Joseph Simon, Jr; her beloved husband of 60 years, Harry O. Wilkerson; their son, Gordon; and her brother, Larry Don Gibbens. Survivors include her sons, Roger and Jim Wilkerson of Florida; daughters-in-law Jan and Diana, a brother, Norman Budd, and her grandchildren. A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2016, at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., from 10 am until religious services at 12:30 pm conducted by Danny Brown. No graveside services are planned.
