Dennis Palmer

Dennis Michael Palmer, 74, a resident of Central, Louisiana, passed away on May 18, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Dennis was born on October 9, 1947 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

He was a graduate of Catholic High School and a proud member of the Catholic High School 1962 District Champions Football team. After graduating, Dennis joined the United States Air Force. Upon completion of serving his country, Dennis worked for many years until he retired as a Analyzer Technician. Dennis was an avid fisherman and loved playing the guitar. He loved his granddaughters who gave him much joy, love and laughter affectionately called him, “Den Den.”

Dennis is preceded in death by his mother, Marie Blanchard Palmer; father, Eddie Smith Palmer, Sr.; brother, Eddie S. Palmer, Jr.; nephews, Greg Smith, Richard Dicharry; brother in-laws, Louis G. Smith and Guy Dicharry.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lucy S. Palmer; daughter, Lesley R. Vance; Son in-law, John W. Vance; grandchildren, Molly Vance and Adelia Vance; sisters, Darlene P. Smith and Cynthia P. Dicharry; sister in-laws, Lucille L. Palmer, Estelle E. S. Schilling (Aubrey); brother in-law, Stevie Spears (Sandra), and numerous nieces, nephews and other beloved family members.

Celebration of life service will take place at St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church, 14040 Greenwell Springs Rd, Greenwell Springs, LA 70739 on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. the family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until hour of service. Inurnment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA 70815.

The family expresses gratitude for the loving care given to Dennis by Dr. Gerald Barber and the Hospice of Baton Rouge, and Nurse Bridgett.
