David was born in Baton Rouge and graduated from Central High School in 1979. David worked for American Bank for several years and later joined the staff of LWCC during its formation and worked for the corporation for 31 years. David was a valued member of the International Publishing Management Association, Mail Systems Management Association and Postal Customer Council along with the Disaster Recovery Journal by attending multiple conferences and setting up disaster plans. David worked hard to get certified to do the best job during his employment. He received certification as a Certified Mail and Distribution System Manager (CMDSM), Certified Mail Manager (CMM) and in Compliance Continuity Management (CCM).
David served as a deacon at Foster Road Baptist church along with working in the children and youth departments. David was currently an active member of Zoar Baptist Church working with the children and youth for many years. He was known for dressing up as Sparky in AWANAS or traveling along with a youth group for mission trips. David’s passions included time with family, LSU sports, NASCAR and traveling. He was an avid sports fan and what he most enjoyed was sporting events with family, whether it was supporting his children or enjoying an LSU game. He was always active playing golf, bowling, or competing in a 5k. He could win at any sport. He was just that talented. He loved spending time with his grandkids as well as playing ball with his grand pets. David looked forward to sweet visits from the neighborhood children especially when they brought him cookies or their original paintings. David set the standard on how a father should care for his family. He was diagnosed with ALS in November of 2022 and fought this disease to the very end. Even during his battle, he wanted to help the future pALS (Persons with ALS) and participated in a research study to assist in finding a cure. His sweet, kind heart will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilson and Billie Brown.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Diane Lenox Brown and his 4 children: Sunny Wiggers (Drew), Ariel Guess (Daryl), Casey Brown (David Jozefov) and Seth Brown (Jenny). He is also survived by his siblings: Janet Brown Jewell, Mark Brown and Kevin Brown. He is also survived by his 4 grandchildren, David Michael, Joseph, John Luke, and Emma Ruth Wiggers and 3 grand pets, Gus, Sherby and Brie.
