A retired employee of the East Baton Rouge Parish school system, he passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at his home in Baton Rouge. He was 88 and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the Philippines. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., on Thursday, May 14, was from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 715 East Blvd., on Friday from 1 p.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 2 p.m., with Monsignor Robert Berggreen, celebrant. Entombment in St. George Church Mausoleum. Mr. Ware is survived by his wife of 60 years, Gwen Ware; two daughters, Libby Elliott, and Donice Garner and husband James; three sons, Daniel J. Ware Jr., Patrick Ware and wife Lisa, and Martin Ware and wife Farin; two sisters, Shirley Falsetta and Theresa Redmond; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents; a son, John Ware; son-in-law, Daniel Joseph Elliott; and sister, Leona Lapeyrolerie. Pallbearers will be Martin Ware, Daniel Ware Jr., Patrick Ware, Johnathan Ware, Gary Melancon and Lysle Elliott. He was a parishioner of St. Agnes Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus and American Legion Nicholson Post 38. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Missionaries of Charity, c/o St. Agnes Catholic Church, 715 East Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA 70802.
