Dale Ann Roy Ogden was born in Marksville, Louisiana, on November 2, 1951, to Olin Roy and Hazel Bordelon Roy. She was warm and joyful with a wicked sense of humor, which she probably got from her siblings, Earl Roy and Elaine Roy Armand (To’ree and Tut), uncles, aunts and cousins who shared their cajun joy and antics at cochon de lait festivals, crawfish boils, and egg paquing competitions.
Dale was a knockout with a red mustang and married William M. Ogden of Bunkie, Louisiana, on August 14, 1971. She was a wonderful aunt to the Roy, Armand and Ogden siblings and could often be seen skiing on a river rocking out to Elton John or The Rolling Stones. She was known to many as “Aunt Pink.”
Dale moved to start her family in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and had two beautiful daughters, Lorna and Shawnna Ogden. Her daughters were her pride and joy and stressed her out until they became doctors. Dale also had many bonus daughters, including her daughter-in-law Sharon Hirsh.
She worked for Cajun Electric as an executive secretary until she retired early. She went on to help her husband, William, run their insurance agency for decades like the boss she was. Later in life, Dale dawned the title of “Nana” and showered her three grandchildren with her warmth, joy, and pink lipstick kisses.
Dale always gave us the best of herself. She was the sweetest, kindest soul.
She died December 19th, 2023, after a short fight from an unexpected illness and is survived by her husband, daughters, grandchildren, sister, nieces, nephews, cousins and adopted family members who will miss and cherish her always. There will be a memorial service at 1:30 PM on Sunday, January 7th at Rabenhorst Funeral Home at 11000 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA. In lieu of flower donations, please consider making a donation to a children’s charity such as St. Jude Hospital.
