Daisy Palermo King, passed away peacefully at the Carpenter House on Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2014. She was 90 years old, a native of Plaquemine, LA and a resident of Baton Rouge, LA. Daisy was retired from Montgomery Ward Personnel Dept. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister and will be missed dearly by her family. Daisy is survived by her daughter, Janet Shurtleff and husband Derald; son, Michael King and wife Jan; grandchildren, Jeff Shurtleff and wife Michelle, Sean King, Jennifer King Welch and husband Nathan, and Stephanie King Boudreaux and husband Jason; great grandchildren, Evan and Jacob Welch, Wyatt, Colt and Dustin Heard; sisters, Ann Ruiz and Fannie Rivet; brother, Joseph “Baby” Palermo and wife Laura; sister-in-law, Barbara Palermo; brother-in-law, Charles “Sleepy” Brooks; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel L. King; great granddaughter, Jocelyn King; parents, Anthony and Francesca Cashiola Palermo; brothers, Peter Palermo and Vincent “Torpedo” Palermo; sister, Lena Brooks; sister-in-law, Gladys “Butsy” Palermo; and brothers-in-law, John Ruiz Sr. and Lindon “Noonie” Rivet. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of St. Joseph Hospice Carpenter House. Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Monday, November 3, 2014 from 10:00 am until the Funeral Service begins at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Sean King, Jeff Shurtleff, Nathan Welch, Jason Boudreaux, Guy Palermo and Darren Palermo.
