"Cynthia Elinor Stout Gordon, a native of Syracuse, NY and a resident of Baton Rouge, LA, went home to the Lord on October 17, 2018 at the age of 87. Cynthia was a member of St. Paul's Reformed Episcopal Church. She earned a bachelor's degree in piano performance from LSU and loved singing. She studied voice with Terry Patrick Harris. She was a life-long member of her church choirs and performed with the Camerata Singers of Baton Rouge. She also served as Director of Religious Education at Trinity Episcopal Church for over 14 years. Her primary role was that of loving wife to her husband, Neale Gordon, and mother to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Cynthia Carol G. Lazar and husband Peter of Baton Rouge, Barbara Ruth G. Webb and husband Earl of Lynchburg, VA, Catherine Ellen G. McCoy and husband Mac of Midland, TX, Alfred Neale Gordon Jr. of Baton Rouge, and David Andrew Gordon and wife Amber of Baton Rouge; sister-in-law, Sheila M. Gordon of Baton Rouge; and 10 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alfred Neale Gordon, Sr.; infant son, Robert Bruce Gordon; parents, Earl and Ruth Stout; and brothers, Ronald M. Stout, Sr. and Alan K. Stout. Visitation will be on Monday, October 22, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church, Dunham Chapel, from 10:00 a.m. until a funeral service at 11:00 a.m., officiated by the Rev. Dr. Randall Toms. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Amos Kilgore Gordon III, Scott O' Brian Gordon, Stewart Thomas Gordon, Stephen Vine Gordon, Peter Lazar III, and Karl F. McCoy III. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Smile Train, Caring to Love Ministries, or other such missions for the healing and care of children.
