Charles Clifford Samson, Sr., a native and resident of Baton Rouge, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at the age of 87. After graduating from Catholic High, he served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He eventually retired from ExxonMobil Refinery after 26 years of service. Charles loved to dance, fish, hunt, play and watch golf, cook and watch LSU football. Above all, he cherished the time he spent with his family and friends. Charles is survived by his children, Laura Samson Martin (Chris), Daphne Samson LeSage (Ronnie), Cliff Samson (Michelle), Cyd Samson Hays (Jimmy), and Becky Samson Breaux (Chris); grandchildren, Allyson, Sophie, Michael, Ron, John, Corey, Randy, Kenneth, Brittanie, Logan, Charles III, Benton, Rachel, Darryl Jr., Ben, Will, Jack, CJ, Hunter, Payton, Lauren, Emily, Maddie, Renee; 24 great-grandchildren; and a host of other loving family members. He is preceded in death by his son, Barry Lynn Samson; wife, Carol Ann Gaudin Samson; granddaughter, Hallie Samson; great-granddaughter, Shelby Wenning; parents, Clifford and Dorothy Samson; and sister, Patsy Tucker. Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, on Friday, January 26, 2024, from 12pm until the time of funeral services at 2pm. Burial will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
