Charles “Brennan” Kean passed away peacefully in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on April 19, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 4, 1965 and was a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge. To know Brennan as a father, son, brother, uncle, or friend was to love him and to be a recipient of his unfailing kindness and love. Brennan graduated from University High School in 1984, where many lasting friendships were made. He attended the University of Southern Mississippi his freshmen year. Brennan then returned home to attend and graduate from Louisiana State University, where he was a proud member the Sigma Chi fraternity. His successful career in medical sales lasted many years, where he was the recipient of many awards. This was probably due to the fact that he was so witty, caring, and charismatic. He was a member of Lottie Wildlife Association and the Baton Rouge Assembly. However, his greatest accomplishments were undoubtedly his two daughters, Sarah Brennan and Camille, the loves of his life. He was a lifelong outdoorsman, whose greatest joy was teaching his daughters to respect and enjoy nature, while making them laugh during the sometimes long and cold hours in a deer stand. He will always be remembered as gentle, caring, even keeled and as a quick-witted friend.
He is survived by his two daughters, Sarah Brennan and Camille Claire Kean, and their mother, Leigh Barbato Kean; his parents John Selby Kean, III and Charlotte Hohorst Kean; brother John Selby Kean, IV and Melinda Priest Sykes; sister Rachel Kean Alcock and Lee Alcock; sister Angelle Kean McQueen and Christian McQueen; brother Tyler James Kean and Sheila Fisher Kean along with many nieces and nephews, all of whom he adored and all of whom adored him. Brennan was preceded in death by his grandparents, John Selby and Jane Brennan Kean of Baton Rouge and Charles Frederick and Annie Begnaud Hohorst, Sr of Lafayette.
Visitation will take place on Friday, April 22, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 445 Marquette Avenue, Baton Rouge, LA. A Funeral Mass will be held following the visitation at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Louisiana Hunters for the Hungry or another charity of your choice.
