Catherine Fisher Usey

Catherine Lynn Fisher Usey, "Big Mama," passed away at 5:45 a.m. Sunday, May 17, 2009, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Bluebonnet. Cathy was 46, born on April 15, 1963, in Baton Rouge. She worked at V's Financial Services as branch manager for more than 17 years. There aren't enough words to express Cathy's strength, determination and the support she provided to everyone she encountered. She was well known for her vivacious personality which kept everyone smiling no matter what the circumstance. Cathy was the backbone of her family and will be terribly missed by all. She loved the beach, especially the sound of the waves. Cathy's last wish was to visit her place of peace before she could have closure and peace in her heart to go to her God in heaven. Cathy's last wish was granted in the form of a trip to Florida with some of her closest friends and family. Shortly after her return from Florida, she was able to go to God with a peaceful mind and soul. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Tuesday, May 19, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Preceded in death by her parents, Cecil Lloyd Fisher and Elizabeth Landry Fisher. Survivors include her husband, Glenn G. Usey; sons, Chase Usey and Brandon Higgins; stepdaughter and husband, Keith and Amanda Streeter; and grandson, Hayden Streeter. Cathy was also survived by her sister and best friend, Clare L. Haney and her husband, Jimmy Haney; brother, Cal G. Fisher and his wife, Monique Fisher; and nephews, William Rome and Chad Fisher. She was adored by her two nieces, Laura and Kayla Rome (partner in crime). In closing, "Big Mama's" famous last words would be "¦ "Enchante." The family would like to express sincere thanks and gratitude for Cathy's caregivers and all of the many friends who provided support and loving kindness to our dearest Cathy. We also would like to express special thanks to Dr. Gerald Miletello and his staff for the wonderful care Cathy received.
