Cameron Chance Calloway was born on October 10, 1990, and died on September 11, 2024, at the age of 33. After a dedicated search by volunteers, he was found in the desert area he loved to hike, on September 22,2024, in Barstow, CA.
He is survived by his loving mother, Becky Maher Calloway and fiancé, Larry Smith, of Knoxville, TN; father, Chesley V. Calloway of Baker, LA; brothers, Chesley C. Calloway (Nandita) and Coltin Calloway (Elizabeth); uncles, Thomas E. Maher (Margaret) and James H. Maher (Lidiana); nieces and nephews, Samara and Caston Calloway, and Alice Aupperle; his cat Chili; and many loving cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Thomas A. Maher, Charlotte Maher Koch, Chesley V. Calloway, Sr., and Nyna Dier Calloway; and his cousin, Stephen Maher.
Cameron graduated from the Medical Training College for Massage Therapy. He grew up around the original “Boot Store” and spent over 15 years working there beginning at the age of 16, where he built cherished friendships and a loyal customer base. Many customers appreciated his exceptional service, often stopping to shake his hand as a gesture of gratitude.
A passionate wrestling enthusiast, Cameron participated in "ring" wrestling and was a member of LBW and 225 Wrestling, where he was known as C-Thang and Buster Razor Black. He also loved exploring the California desert and cherished spending time with his CA family and friends. Cameron always tried to find humor in any situation with his witty personality, he appreciated nature, and had a love for video games. He was a great uncle to his nieces and nephews and an honorary "Uncle Cam" to the children of his close friends.
A memorial gathering will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70815, on Saturday, October 12, 2024, from 12 noon until memorial service at 2 pm conducted by Reverend Tom Cook.
