Byron J. Campagna, native of Baton Rouge, passed away on May 4, 2023 at the age of 90 after a courageous battle with Alzheimers. He attended Sacred Heart and was a 1952 graduate of Catholic High where he played football and ran track. A proud veteran of the US Army National Guard, he completed his service prior to earning a B. S. degree in Business at Southeastern University. Byron worked as a District Sales Manager with Colgate-Palmolive Company for 35 years. He was a faithful parishioner of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where he volunteered at their St. Joseph’s Altar and was a member of The Knights of Columbus. Byron never met a stranger and loved interacting with people. He was a passionate sports fan, especially for CHS and LSU. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, and grilling with family and friends. He was an Italian cuisine enthusiast with a sweet tooth! Byron is survived by his children, Chris Campagna (Bonnie Campagna), Teresa Campagna Schaap, Lynette Campagna Shults (Randy Williams), and Brad Campagna including his five grandchildren, Jamie Shults, Byron Campagna, Jr., Khyli Campagna, Kharsyn Campagna, and Elisabeth Schaap. He is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel J. Campagna and Aline M. Gautreaux Campagna; his brother, Joe Campagna; and his wife of 40 years and mother of his four children, Linda J. Givens Campagna. Byron’s family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at The Claiborne at Shoe Creek and Hospice of Baton Rouge for their love and care. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation to be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Friday, May 12, 2023 from 9 am until the funeral service at 10 am. Fr. Matthew Graham of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church will officiate with interment, committal and burial to follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
