James Bruce Gauthier, a beloved husband, father, teacher, and friend, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, April 3rd at the age of 84 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Born in Cottonport, Louisiana, Bruce attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and later moved to Baton Rouge, where he dedicated 20 years of his life to shaping young minds as an elementary school teacher. His passion for education touched the lives of countless students, leaving an enduring impact on the community. Following his retirement from the school system, Bruce continued his journey at Hayes Town Construction Company, where he brought his dedication and work ethic to a new endeavor.
Bruce was a devoted husband to Carolyn Gauthier for 60 beautiful years, and together they raised a loving family. He is survived by his cherished children, Barry Gauthier and Ellen Gauthier, and his grandchildren Kay Gauthier, Jacob Gauthier, Bryce Gauthier, Amber Barrett, and Lauren Barber. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mona Barber, daughter-in-law Angela Gauthier, and grandchild Claire Grace Gauthier. Bruce also joins his parents, Tula and James Gauthier, and sister Marcia Gauthier in eternal peace.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 16th, from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a mass at 11:00 AM at St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church.
