“Eye hath not seen nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.” -1 Cor 2:9; On November 5, 2017, Billy Wayne Ross departed this life. He was born January 11, 1937- the fifth child of ten children born to Leonard Ellis and Hazel Newcomb Ross in Burnsville, MS. He is preceded in death by his son, Richard Ross;daughter, Angela Ross Haught; his parents, two brothers, and three sisters. He is survived by his grandsons, Brandon and Justin Ross; granddaughters, Ashley Haught Cloud (John) and Meagan Haught (Schuyler); four great-grandchildren, Annabelle and Ross Gouge and Evangeline and Addison Cloud, and Valerie Dykes who will enter this world in December; daughter-in-law, Sandy Masters; his brother, Bobby Ross; three sisters, Nelda Sykes (George), Julia Jett, and Linda Ross; and the mother of his children Billie Crochet; and numerous nieces and nephews. Billy had only two jobs in his married life. He was a route salesman for the Baton Rouge Coca-Cola bottling company, and was the first person to sell Coca-Cola to Piccadilly of Baton Rouge. In 1962, he became a very successful agent with State Farm Insurance, and remained there until his retirement in 2007. Over the years Billy made many lasting friendships; He had a kind heart and an outgoing personality. He was never at a loss for words with his robust sense of humor. Billy had a strong love and appreciation for sports, especially softball and basketball. He derived great pleasure in sponsoring women and men’s softball teams. Visitation is to be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home from 5pm-8pm on Wednesday, November 7, 2017 and will resume on Thursday, November 8, 2017 at 10am until services at noon. Interment to follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Billy requested donations be made to St. Jude’s Research Hospital: 501 St. Jude Pace, Memphis, TN 38105.
