Billie Rae Brown

Billie grew up in Baton Rouge as an only child and graduated from Istrouma High School and then went on to Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA to receive her BA in Education and then earned her Masters of Education from Southeastern Louisiana State University, Hammond, LA.

She was a past member of Foster Road Baptist Church for over 20 years and was a member of the choir and is currently a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Alexandria LA.

She loved to help with the Children’s Department at church especially her children’s Sunday School Class and Vacation Bible School. She really found great joy teaching children about Jesus.

Billie retired from teaching in the public school system where many of her years were spent at White Hills Elementary School in Baker, La. After retirement, she continued to teach in the private sector totaling more than 50 years of teaching thousands of students.

Preceded in death by her husband: Leonard Wilson Brown in 2003 and her parents, Willie Wallace Albritton and Beulah Iola Davis Albritton

She is survived by her 3 sons: David A Brown (Diane), Mark T Brown (Candy), Kevin Brown and one daughter: Janet Brown Jewell (Robert) She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren: Sunny Wiggers (Drew), Ariel Guess (Daryl), Casey, Seth Brown (Jenny), Haley Brown, Jonah Brown, Megan Jewell, Kohner Brown, Kaleb Brown, Karter Brown and Kooper Brown and her 3 great-grandchildren David Michael, Joseph, and John Luke Wiggers

Billie enjoyed participating in a variety of activities with her friends such as bingo, bible study, watching LSU football and the Gameshow network or just having lunch together with ice cream for dessert. If you knew Billie, you knew she had a special love for her cats.

A funeral service will be held at Foster Road Baptist Church in Baker, LA on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at 12:00pm with visitation from 10:00am to service time at the church. Interment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.

Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers are Seth Brown, Jonah Brown, Kohner Brown, Kaleb Brown, Karter Brown, Kooper Brown, Drew Wiggers, Daryl Guess, and David Jozefov.
