Proverbs 31:10, 11, 28 Bertha Mae Womack Achord was born on February 21, 1918, to Della Myrtle Heard and David McLoyd Womack in Hope Villa, Louisiana. She joined her heavenly Father at 5:05 PM, Sunday, October 5, 2014. She is survived by daughters Janice Achord Diez and husband Joe, Sharon Achord Dixon and husband Wilson, Sue Achord Robert and husband Jon, Betty Jo Achord, and honorary daughter Nancy Ann Loupe; grandchildren Derr McElwee, Lisa McElwee White, Monica McElwee Pemberton, Joycelyn McElwee Gunby, Shea Dixon Firnberg, David Dixon, Allison Robert Nash, Stephen Robert, Joseph Munn, Caitlin Munn, Brandon Kamus, and Gerard Satterlee. Also survived by 24 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Joseph Young Achord, daughter Joycelyn Ruth Achord McElwee and husband William, grandson Michael David Diez and granddaughter Nicole Melissa Munn, brothers Floyd, Jesse, and Albert Womack, and sister Lena Womack Lively. Visitation will be observed Wednesday October 8, 2014 from 5-8 PM at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 11000 Florida Boulevard. Visiting hours will resume Thursday, October 9, 2014 from 8-10 AM with services at 10 AM in the chapel at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 11000 Florida Boulevard. Burial at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Funeral services conducted by Roy Lively and assisted by Reverend Ross Wales. Pallbearers will be grandsons Derr McElwee, David Dixon, Stephen Robert, Joseph Munn, Brandon Kamus, and Gerard Satterlee. The family appreciates the compassionate help of Hospice in His Care. A member of Woodlawn Baptist Church for 87 years, she was an active participant in the Joy Club of Woodlawn Baptist and of Circle One of First Presbyterian Church. Her love of Jesus, her savior, and her family were her delight and were utmost in her life. She was forever young at heart, willing to learn and experience new life adventures. Her values and character were her strength and evidenced through the example of her life. Her smile was welcoming to friends and strangers, and she shared it often. She witnessed God's love to others through the experiences He gave her. She held a lifelong love of poetry, literature, the English and French languages, and of travel and needlework. Her heart was 96 years full; she loved and was loved.
