Bernice Ainsworth Freeman awoke in the arms of her Savior on the morning of August 21, at a private residence in Fallbrook, California. "Bon" was a life-long resident of Baton Rouge. She was 95. She was preceded in death by her husband Leon L. Freeman, and two sons, Leon L. Jr. "Lonnie" and Gailand Wayne "Pete". She is survived by daughters Shirley F. Henderson and Barbara L. Freeman, and son Leo G. Freeman, his wife Bess along with 7 grandchildren and numerous great-grands. A founding member of a gospel group "The Freeman Family", she was active as a gospel musician for the majority of her life. Bernice enjoyed music, writing poetry, fishing and traveling. She never met a stranger. Visitation services will be at the Rabenhorst Funeral Home on Government Street from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, followed by a memorial service on Thursday, August 28, 2014. Burial will take place at Resthaven on Friday August 29, at 10:00AM. Pallbearers are Donnie Freeman, Lonnie Dale Freeman, Pete Freeman, P.J. Freeman, Joshua Bourgeois and Ryan Roy. She will be missed.
