Bernadette was born February 13, 1945 at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital, Baton Rouge, LA. She died on Monday, May 7, 2018 at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital. She attended high school at St. Joseph’s Academy. Bernadette retired from Dow Chemical Company on June 30, 1995. She loved gardening, was an avid genealogist and loved crafts like quilting, sewing, and crochet, cross stich, jewelry making and rosary making. She served as a Eucharistic Minister and Sacristan at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Prairieville, LA and was treasurer of the Waterford Lake Homeowners Association for many years. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Memorial Funeral Home on Thursday, May 10, 2018 from 5pm-8pm, with recitation of the rosary at 7:00pm led by Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court St. Francis of Assisi 1915. Visitation will continue on Friday, May 11, 2018 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Prairieville from 9:30am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am celebrated by Fr. Martin. Entombment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
Bernadette is survived by her children and their spouses, Alfred Earl “Trée” George III and Stacie Guillot of Geismar, Sherrie Ann George Hutson and Charles Brent Hutson of Prairieville, Lance William George and Ginger Faye Holmes George of Chicago, Il; her grandchildren: Christopher John George of Nashville, Brandon Charles Hutson, Victoria Hutson Rathcke and Nicholas Earl Hutson all of Prairieville, Madison Elizabeth “Maddie” George and William Dempsey “Will” George, both of Chicago; her step-grandchildren, Tova Marie Hutson of Baton Rouge, Harper Louise Holmes of Baton Rouge, Anthony Joseph Steva, Jr. of Baton rouge and Chandler Scott Streva of Geismar; brothers John Samuel and wife Diane Walters Alise, and Mark Anthony and wife Ruth Whitney Alise; sisters Sandra Spradley, and Mona Kay and husband Raymond Wayne Dupont; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceeded in death by her husband Alfred Earl George, Jr; her father and mother, Samuel Joseph and Vergie Laiche Alise; father-in-law and mother-in-law Alfred Earl Sr. and Claudia Bordelon George; brothers-in-law Calvin Guy George, Sr. and Joe Melvin Spradley. Pallbearers will be her son-in-law, grandsons, and brothers. “As you hold me close in memory, even though we are apart, my spirit will live on, there within your heart. I am with you always.”
