Belle Humphreys Borne

A devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and caregiver to many, gained her Angel wings on July 9, 2014. A resident of Baton Rouge and native of Centreville, MS she was 102 years old, just shy of her 103rd birthday July 31st. She truly knew Christ and was loved greatly by her family and friends and had the respect and admiration of everyone she met. The love of her family was of utmost importance to her as was her love for God. She touched many lives with her kindness, generosity and goodness. Her entire life was characterized as being patient and forgiving, with an enduring strength and she was always ready to give of herself and of her time for the benefit of others. She is survived by 3 daughters Nancy Lato, Jeanne (Nannette) Borne, Judy Davidson; 3 sons and daughter-in-laws, John H., Sr. and Gayle Forbes Borne, William (Rusty) Borne, Leonce C., Jr. (Ouncy) and Mary Boudreaux Borne; 8 grandchildren and spouses, Gina and Daniel McKnight, Guy J. Lato II, JJ and Tracey Borne, Tommy and Faith Davidson, Jennifer Davidson, Lacy and Ian McKnight, Michael Borne, and Will Borne; 9 great-grandchildren Markham and Russell McKnight, Brennan and Bryson Borne, Kayleigh and Colesie Davidson, Nathan Lachney, Sophia Belle and Finn McKnight, and Ally Jayne Borne. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Leonce C. Borne, Sr., grandson Jeremy Borne, son-in-laws Guy J. Lato Sr. and Thomas H. Davidson, Sr., parents William Jahue and Annie Helmer Humphreys, siblings, Oscar, Gurvis, Russell, Everett and Magruder Humphreys, Leona Spillman, Anne Gravois, and Frances Wheeler. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd, Friday, July 11, 2014 from 5-9pm with rosary at 6:30pm. Visitation will resume July 12, 2014 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11441 Goodwood Blvd., from 9:30am until eulogy begins at 10:15 with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am with Rev. Tom Duhe, presiding. Interment at Resthaven Gardens of Memory on Jefferson Hwy. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons.
