Anna Dooley, a retired school teacher from Villa Del Rey Elementary, died this week at age 87. She taught from the mid-1960s to the early 1980s. She is survived by sons, Mike and Pat; sister, Sally Eudaly and brother, Mike Majors. Her dear third son Jap died in 1997. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, on Friday, September 22, 2017, from 4:00PM to 8:00PM. Visitation will resume at Broadmoor United Methodist, 10230 Mollylea Dr., Baton Rouge, LA, on Saturday, September 23, 2017, from 9:00AM until time of funeral services at 10:00AM. Burial will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. Anna's greatest dedication was teaching, but other institutions of importance over her lifetime included the Aquatic Club, Broadmoor Methodist Church, alma matters Ole Miss and LSU, and lately Fidelis Assisted Living. Her favorite charity was St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
Anna was a dutiful babysitter and tutor not only to her own grandchildren but to many of the neighborhood children. The grandchildren include Shannon, Cass, Kate, Jake, Larkin, Colin, Meghan, Patrick, Chase, and Maggie. She also has 13 great-grandchildren. She offered a few life lessons: Read to your children, get a useful education, learn to play music, all adults need to make a living, wear clothes until they wear out, if you're a female dress like a female and if you're a male dress like a male.
