Andrew Soileau Sr.

Andrew (Drew) Soileau passed away quietly at his home Tuesday, August 6, 2013. He was 89 years old-just shy of his 90th birthday. He was born August 24, 1923 in Mamou, Louisiana to Edna and Henri Soileau. He was preceded in death by his sister, Laura Mae from Basile, Louisiana.

The loving husband of Elvena Ardoin Soileau for 71 years, Drew was a loving, hardworking, follower of Christ; the father of two daughters, Shella Schafer (Edgar), Fran Sprattin, and one son, Andrew (Bobby Ann). He had three grandsons, Trevor Landry (Julie), Jeff Soileau (Bree), Jason Soileau (Kristy); and had five great grandchildren and numerous step great grandchildren. To them all he was known as Pappa.

A World War II veteran, he served in the US Army and tour of France. Drew retired from the Winn Dixie Store as produce manager.

He loved God, family, and home. A very quiet, shy man, Drew always loved the outdoors, gardening, canning, and tinkering around. He could fix anything.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 am, Friday, August 9, 2013 at Greenoaks Memorial Park, 9595 Florida Blvd.
