Alfred Leonard “Alfie” DeLatte, 85, of Baker, LA., passed away Monday, February 5, 2024 at his home in Baker LA. He was born on December 5, 1938 to Lawrence and Margarite DeLatte. Alfred served in the United States Airforce as an Airman Second Class and was a United States Navy reserve from 1956-1960. He was retired from Borden Dairy. He was a huge LSU Tiger fan and loved watching TV, movies and spending time with his family. Alfred was preceded in death by his best friend and wife of 52 years, Mary Walters DeLatte; parents, Lawrence and Margarite DeLatte; brother, Wallace DeLatte; sisters, Shirley Norton, Alice Welch and numerous other family members and friends. Alfred is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Stacey Thornton and Larry Kent of Ashdown Ark., and Dawanna and John “Bubby” Champagne of Baker, LA.; three grandchildren, Blaine Allen and husband Mike of Central, Justin Thornton and wife Belinda of Ashdown Ark., and Tiffany Brister and husband Justin of Slaughter; eight great-grandchildren, Gracelyn Champagne, Gage Allen, Kennedy Thornton, Jonah Thornton, Nora Thornton, Lexie Allen, Kaleigh Brister and Hannah Brister; one sister, Melba Fontenot and husband Ricky and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Pallbearers will be Bubby Champagne, Justin Thorton, Mike Allen, Justin Brister, Larry Kent, Gage Allen, and Jonah Thornton. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Friday, February 9, 2024 from 10:00am until service time of 12:00pm. Burial to follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Minister Garrett Ganucheau will be the officiant.
