She was predominately raised by her grandparents, Minnie and William Clark, Sr., to whom she affectionately referred to as Ma and Dad.
From humble beginnings, Dot strived to enjoy every minute that life had to offer, and enjoyed it to the fullest. Despite the great-depression she graduated from Athens High School and soon found gainful employment. She met, fell in love, and married Melvin.
Together, they began to create a fairy-tale life. Melvin was called to Heaven early in their marriage and again, Dot looked to the future, pursued, and received her nursing degree from Ithaca College, and continued to build on their foundation until retiring from nursing.
After retirement, her love of nursing compelled her to volunteer at the local hospital and Ashton Nursing Home. Never in your life will you ever meet another person who was as caring, thoughtful and forgiving. Recent years were spent with her treasure, Dan until her health required her to reside in the Lost Pines Nursing Home, Bastrop, Texas.
She is survived by her son Dan Kulman and his wife Roxanne of Bastrop, Texas; grandson, Randy Marshall Kulman and his wife Lydia of Ohio.; granddaughter Chelley Kulman Hayward and her husband Larry of Kan.; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Tiffany, McKayla and Tyler Kulman; Lauryn and Joseph (JoJo) Jimenez and Carson and Hayden Hayward; sister-in-law Alice Kulman of Calif.; and brothers-in-law Herbert Kulman of Calif., and James Skellon of N.Y.; as well an array of nieces and nephews (many of whom thought of her as another mother), a multitude of great nieces and nephews, along with many great-great nieces and nephews.
Dot was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband, Melvin Kulman in 1968. In addition, her parents, James Leland and Margaret Bernice (Murray) Deuel; sisters Jeanne Marie (Deuel) Hatch, Marsha Jane (Deuel) Skellon and Margaret (Deuel) Cocoran; and brothers-in-law, Norman Hatch and Armand Kulman.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in the Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, Pa.
