Alvin Hoffman, 84, of Flatonia died Wednesday, February 28th. He was born November 21, 1928 in Bastrop to George and Bertie Hoffman. His only grandson takes pleasure in the fact he was born in his grandfathers’ hometown of Bastrop as well.
Alvin learned carpentry very young from his father and later supported his family in that trade. He built and remodeled homes and commercial buildings in and around the Austin and Bastrop areas, many still in existence.
His first wife, Margueriete Middleton Hoffman and eldest son, Alvin Hoffman Jr., three brothers W.A., Marvin, and Glenn; one sister, Pauline Hoffman precedes him in death.
His wife, Charlene, son Coy and his wife Margaret, daughter Diane and her husband Rob Hayden, stepson, Calvin Klimitchek and his wife Betty; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren survive him. Also left to mourn his passing are five sisters, Averill Hoffman, Annette Mathes, Yvonne Pena, Vennia Fleck and Liz Roland.
Alvin was a storyteller. We will miss him dearly and those life experiences he readily shared with us. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Marrs-Jones-Newby Funeral Home with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery.
