Albert lived in the Charter Oak area until to 1950. He attended the rural schools in and around Charter Oak and graduated from Charter Oak High School with the class of 1949. He entered the United States Air Force January of 1951 and began Basic Training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. He then attended technical training in Biloxi, Mississippi. Albert served as an Air Traffic Controller in Korea, Bermuda, Texas, Vietnam and North Dakota. His service for his Country included Presidential Duty during the Presidency of Lyndon Johnson. He retired from the Air Force in July of 1972. He then worked as an Electrician and Electrical Inspector for the City of Albuquerque, New Mexico until retiring again in July of 1994.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Mary and Herman Maas, wives, Elizabeth Maas-Froman, and Emma Yvonne Maas, sisters, Alvina Puchase, Augusta Haines and Eleanor Kerns. Albert is survived by his children, Michael R Maas of Lewisville, Tx; Vicky Maas Stanley and her husband Steven of Bridge City, Tx; Matthew A Maas and his wife Wanda of Cedar Creek, Tx; Mark H Maas of Ft Worth, Tx; 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, February 7, 2011 at Marrs-Jones-Newby Funeral Home in Bastrop, Texas.
