W. “Donnie” Cundiff, 67, of 650 Edgewood Drive, Stanleytown, died Friday, May 20, 2010 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville-Henry Co. He was born in Franklin Co, on March 29, 1943 to the late Jessie Raymond Cundiff, and Virgie Smith Cundiff of Bassett. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed for more than 40 years with J.R. Cundiff Excavation as a Bookkeeper/Truck Driver. He was a Charter Member of Landmark Baptist Church, the Rocky Mount Masonic Lodge, Shriner and a lifetime member of VFW post 4637.
In addition to his father he was preceded in death by one sister, Myra Kay Cundiff Jones.
In addition to his mother he is survived by one son, Michael Cundiff of High Point, NC; one brother, Jesse Robert “Bobby” Cundiff, of Martinsville; one grandson, Dakota Cundiff of High Point, NC; and long time companion, Carol Rakes of Martinsville.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 23, 2010 at Landmark Baptist Church with Reverend J.D. Harmon officiating. Interment will be in Roselawn Burial Park.
Mr. Cundiff will be placed in the church Sunday, May 23, 2010 at 12:30 p.m. where family will receive friends one hour prior to services.
