Samuel Jay Pilson

In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by his son, Samuel Tristan Pilson.

Sam was a Firefighter for 25 years with Bassett Volunteer Fire Department where he also served as Fire Chief for many years. He also served on the Henry County Board of Supervisors for the Blackberry District as Vice Chairman. Sam owned Pilson’s Auto and Salvage and was currently employed at Mehler Engineered Products as Occupational Safety and Health Manager. He loved Philpott Lake, took great joy in his nieces, nephews and god-daughters, and was a strong advocate for education.

A Celebration of Sam’s Life will be held Thursday, April 16, 2015 at 2:00 PM at EMI (the old Bassett High School) in Bassett with Rev. Michael Harrison, Dr. Renee Prillaman and Steve Eanes presiding.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 15, 2015 from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Collins Funeral Home in Bassett.
