Ruby Dodson Robertson

Henry County, Virginia on October 17, 1932 to George Claude Dodson and Ressie Bryant Dodson Hutchinson. Ruby worked for J. D. Bassett Manufacturing as a Cabinet Room Inspector. She was a member of Community Holiness Church in Henry, Virginia and had sung in the choir at several churches.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Alvis Eldridge “HotRod” Robertson, her sister, Nolie Dodson Carter and five brothers, George A. Dodson, John Ezra Dodson, Thaddie G. Dodson, Aubrey N. Dodson and Joel Finney Dodson.

She is survived by her son Alvis Eugene Robertson, Sr. and his wife, Lisa of Bassett; four grandchildren, Kimberly Dawn Seay, Marsha Jean O’Brian, Alvis Eugene Robertson, Jr., and Alvis Eugene Robertson, III; three great grandchildren, Morgan O’Brian, Luke O’Brian, and McKenzie Seay, and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 from 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM at Collins Funeral Home-Bassett Chapel. A Home Going Celebration will follow the visitation from 7:30 PM until 8:30 PM with Pastor Eugene Robertson, Sr. officiating. The family will receive friends at other times at the home of her son, Eugene Robertson, Sr.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, August 27, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Collins Funeral Home with Bishop Dwayne Pruitt officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park.
