Matthew Roland Midkiff

Matthew Roland “Mack” Midkiff, 81, of Bassett, Virginia, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2016 at Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart. He was born in Floyd, Virginia on August 8, 1934 to Earl and Ethel Mae Jones Midkiff.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Irene Huff Midkiff and a brother, Donnie Green Midkiff.

He is survived by his son, Kenneth M. (Barbara) Midkiff of Talladega, AL; his granddaughters, Amanda (Rusty) Gardner of Jacksonville, NC and Heather Billingsley of Athens, TENN; his great-grandchildren, Colton, Audriana, Brytn, Keigyn and Elya-Irene Gardner of Jacksonville, NC, Hunter Clayton and Rileah Billingsley of Athens, TENN and a brother, Junior Midkiff of Stuart, VA.

He was retired from Stanley Furniture Company and at one time a volunteer on the Bassett Rescue Squad and Fire Department.

The funeral service will be held Monday, March 7, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Collins Funeral Home-Bassett Chapel with Ron Peal, Pastor of Northside Baptist Church, Bassett, VA will officiate. Interment will follow at Henry Memorial Park, Bassett Forks, VA.

The family will receive friends and family on Sunday, March 6, 2016 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Collins Funeral Home-Bassett Chapel.
