Madgline Morris Hairston

Madgline Morris Hairston, 89, of 115 Crestview Drive in Bassett, passed away Friday, October 10, 2014 at her home. She was born in McDowell County, West Virginia, February 19, 1925 to Dennis and Cordie Campbell Morris. She had been employed by Stanley Furniture and Bassett Mirror Company prior to retirement. Mrs. Hairston was a member of Greater Love Ministries.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirleen Redd; two sisters, Martha Cunningham and Mary E. Hairston; three brothers, Teafus, Raymond and Andrew Morris.

She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Elder Leonard P. Hairston of the home; four sons and daughters-in-law, Ellis P. Hairston and Janis of Ridgeway, Gary L. Hairston and Sharon, Leon J. Hairston and Ellen, Leonard E. Hairston and Sherry, all of Bassett; one sister, Bessie M. Richmond of Chicago, IL; 21 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Refuge Temple in Martinsville with Elder Alan Preston officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service. The burial will be in Carver Memorial Gardens.
