John Joshua Finney, 71, died Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Henry, Virginia. He was born in Fieldale, VA on May 29, 1943 to William Finley Finney and Mary Frances Koger Finney. He lived all his life in Fieldale, VA.
John was preceded in death by his Mom, Dad, and a brother, William (Billy) Finney.
John was employed by Aeroquip (LOF) for 25 years and also was employed by Winn Dixie and then Food Lion until he retired. He was of the Baptist Faith and enjoyed anything that involved sports. He was especially fond of the New York Yankees and in racing there was none other than Dale Earnhart, Sr., until he died, and then Jeff Gordon was the man.
John is survived by Betty Jane Ingram, a lifetime friend who has provided him with care for many years.
The family will receive friends Friday night, May 29, 2015, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Collins Funeral Home, Bassett Chapel.
The funeral service will be Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Collins Funeral Home, Bassett Chapel with Pastor Terry Covey presiding over the arrangements. Interment will follow in Henry Memorial Park.
The family requests limited flowers, and memorials may be made to Twin Oaks Baptist Church Building Fund, 2313 Henry Road, Ferrum, VA 24088.
