In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Joe Hankins and Jerry Hankins, his sister, Jean Tunnell, and his son, Rocky Tate.
Mr. Jethro Hankins was a dedicated member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church and genuinely enjoyed teaching young people about the Lord. He was an immensely proud Sergeant in the United States Marine Corp where he served 6 years. He was then employed by Lasco Bathware now known as Aquatic, in South Boston, Virginia as a professional truck driver with two million accident-free miles. Jethro was a man who loved the outdoors but most of all he loved his family.
He is survived by his wife, Debra Hankins, daughters, Tonia Dalton of Fieldale, Jennifer (Husband Geoff) Shivvers of San Diego, CA, and Elizabeth Fulp of Martinsville; his sisters, Joy McClelland, and Judy (Husband Sam) Hall; brother, James (Wife Doris) Hankins; grandchildren, Tyler Akers, Jordan Akers, Matthew Hicks, Paris Fulp, Brooklynn Dalton, Jayden Vires, Gavin Shivvers, Harper Shivvers, and Aria Shivvers; and Great-Granddaughter Oaklynn Akers.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2022 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 p.m. at Collins Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, September 4th, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Mount Vernon Baptist Church and burial will follow at the church cemetery.
