Irene Cooper Wyatt

Irene Cooper Wyatt, 86, formerly of Patrick County, passed away Friday, June 21, 2013 at Tender Years Adult Care where she was a resident. She was born in Patrick County, September 24, 1926 to James Sterling Cooper and Minnie Florence Cummings Cooper. Irene was a 1947 graduate of Hardin Reynolds Memorial School and was employed by DuPont for several years. She was of the Primitive Baptist faith.

She had a wonderful sense of humor and was extremely talented, as was most of the Cooper family. Irene played piano and guitar and sang with her mother, sisters and niece at local conventions where they won many awards. She was also well know for her fabulous cooking. Her apple pies, coconut cakes, biscuits and gravy were requested at most family gatherings or special occasions. Irene was a loving, devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald S. Wyatt; two sons-in-law, Donnie Oliver and Jesse All; seven sisters, Lena Cassell, Ocie Pratt, Mabel Ingram, Ellen Hill, Edna Smith, Doris Cecil and Evelyn Handy; two brothers, Jesse and Fred Woodson Cooper.

Surviving are two daughters, Melissa W. Oliver of Bassett, Regina W. All of Ridgeway, one son, Donald Bradley Wyatt of Arlington; a special daughter-in-law, Susan Wyatt of Roanoke; four grandchildren, Tara Oliver Robertson and husband, Kevin of Bassett, Sabrina All Conner and husband, Josh of Germany, Lindsey Cooper Wyatt of Roanoke, and Hunter Michael All of Ridgeway; one great-grandson, Chase Daniel Robertson of Bassett.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at 11 AM at Collins Funeral Home in Bassett with interment in Pleasant Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Patrick County.

The family will receive friends Monday, from 7 to 8:30 PM at Collins Funeral Home and other times at the home of Regina All in Ridgeway.
