Daniel Wayne Newman

Daniel Wayne Newman, 75, of 122 Valley Park Circle, Bassett, died Saturday, June 1, 2013 at his residence. He was born in Martinsville on December 30, 1937 to the late Clarence Frank Newman and Ruth Shelton Newman. He was retired after more than twenty years with Bassett Mirror Co. as a glass cutter.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Stanley Emmett Newman.

Surviving are three daughters, Phyllis Ann Newman and husband Richard Dean of Bassett, Mellissa Lynn Millis and husband Dennis of Rocky Mount and Nancy Wade of Bassett, three sons, Daniel Allen Newman and companion Bill Cherrix of Chincoteague, James Darrell Newman and Companion, Robin Ann Watts of Bassett and Gary Wayne Newman and wife, Bonnie of Bassett, two sisters, Betty Jean Scott and husband, Delmo of Bassett and Virginia Louise Newman of Bassett and two brothers, Clarence Frank Newman, Jr. and wife, Ola of Bassett and Pete Douglas Newman, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and longtime canine companion, Toby Lynn.

Funeral services will be held 11:00A.M. Tuesday, June 4, 2013 in the chapel of Collins Funeral Home in Bassett with Rev. Frank Newman officiating. Interment will be in the Foley Family Cemetery in Stuart, VA. The family will receive friend one hour prior to services in the Collins Funeral Home Chapel in Bassett.
