Bobby Ray Thompson

Bobby Ray Thompson, 77, of 218 Thompson Trail in Ridgeway, died Friday, April 29, 2011 at his residence. He was born in Summers County, WV on September 6, 1933 to John and Rosie Florence Farmer Thompson. He was a self-employed logger.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Melva Lillian Lambert Thompson; one son, Larry Thompson; and four brothers, Arl, Houston, James and Bernard Thompson.

Surviving are two daughters, Joan Pritt of Beckley, WV; Terri Basconi of Martinsville; two sons, Barry Thompson of Patrick Springs and Gary Thompson of Ridgeway; two sisters, Anna Jane Ward of Pipestem, WV and Janice Hylton of Sanford, NC; one brother, Edward Thompson of Salisbury, NC; eight grandchildren, Michael Thompson, April Thompson, Joey Thompson, Chris Jones, Josh Thompson, Nick Thompson, Steven Thompson, Stephanie Thompson and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 2, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Bassett with the Rev. Mark Hackler officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery in Ridgeway.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Bassett and other times at the residence.
