Dub was born on August 8, 1931, in Central City, Kentucky to Elmer and Bessie (Baize) Lott. He married Naomi P. (Lane) Lott on November 27, 1970 and she survives in Peoria.
In addition to his wife; he is survived by three children, Dianne (Steve) Galloway of Chatham, IL, Carie (Jonathan) Lashley of Peoria, and Aprel Richardson of Pekin; 6 grandchildren, Christelle, Michelle, Lauren, Daniel, Payton and Dillon; 2 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three siblings Dorothy (Jack) Bradshaw, Catherine (Francis) Scarbrough, Elmer Lott, Jr., and his son Darrell (Nancy) Lott.
Dub always had a love for the great outdoors. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, and gardening. He served in the US army during the Korean War and was employed at Caterpillar for 30 years. Retiring at just 53, he lived a happy retirement of 40 years.
He will be remembered for hosting family reunion barbeques in his own backyard, his larger-than-life sense of humor, his many deer camp stories and a strong work ethic.
In his later years dementia robbed him of his memory and strength, however, it also gave him a new tenderness towards relationships which his family will always treasure. During this time he taught us patience and allowed us to show him a small measure of the care he had long showed to us. His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his loving family.
Dub's funeral service will be at 12:00 pm on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at the Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. Pastor Jeffrey Lashley will officiate. His visitation will be from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm also on Saturday at the funeral chapel. Burial will take place in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin with full military honors.
