

Walter Ernest Scudder, 96, of Bartonville, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2025 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born on December 27, 1928 in Peoria, a son of Ernest Cleveland Scudder and Bertha Marie (Hoxworth) Scudder. Walter married Delores Ann "Deeann" Ulrich on June 26, 1949 in Peoria. She preceded him in death on March 7, 2021 in Peoria.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; and one grandson, Jeffrey Naught; son-in-law, Roger Bernard.
Surviving are five children, Gary (Joy) Scudder of Peoria, Danny (Karen) Scudder of Newport, Tennessee, Diann Bernard of Apple Valley, California, Cheryl (Michael) McLuckie of Peoria, and Barbara (Michael) Piscaglia of Bartonville; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
Walter was a graduate of Manual Training High School, Class of 1947.
He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Korean Conflict.
Walter worked as an electrical engineer for CILCO for 40 years, retiring in 1987.
He was an avid golfer and bowler in the CILCO Leagues. Walter loved going to see the Master's Tournament. He especially loved watching the Chicago Cubs.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Graveside service will take place in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria at at later date.
