Lester L. Newman

He was born January 20, 1941 in Peoria to Lester and Pearl (Stroup) Newman. He married Sandra Gielow on September 8, 1959 in Peoria. She passed away on September 13, 2007 in Peoria.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one son Carl Newman.

Surviving are his three daughters Tamara (Rick) Guede of Peoria, Tina (Mark) Showalter of Bartonville, Teresa Newman of Peoria; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Les worked at Caterpillar in East Peoria at Building SS on the Shipping floor for many years retiring on October 1, 1999. He enjoyed working in his yard and most of all spending time with his family.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Thursday, July 28, 2001 at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. Visitation will be two hour prior to services from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Thursday. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or Methodist Hospice.
