She was born May 26, 1936 in Peoria to Thomas and Marian (Wallace) Armstrong. She married Raymond Pfahl, Sr. on November 20, 1955 in East Peoria. He passed away June 21, 2004 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Joy Miller, and two daughters-in-law: Donita Pfahl and Janese Pfahl.
Survivors include four sons: Raymond Pfahl, Jr. of Kenosha, WI, Mark (Lynn) Pfahl of Castle Rock, CO, Michael (Jaymie) Pfahl of Colorado Springs, CO, James (Rebecca) Pfahl of Hanna City, three daughters: Susan Pfahl of Fountain, CO, Connie (Steven Althaus) Pfahl of Oakley, CA, Penny Pfahl of Fountain, CO, 15 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and two sisters: June (Kirt) Abbott of Chillicothe, and Janet (Gary) Sharp of Chillicothe. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who she deeply loved.
Joan first worked for Dr. Banys office in Bellevue, then was a Sales Clerk at Szolds, and last was a Pharmacist Technician at K-Mart retiring in 2002. She was a member of St Peters Lutheran Church in Glasford where she also taught Sunday school. She also was a member of the Hanna City American Legion Post 212 Ladies Auxiliary.
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 4, 2024 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. Funeral services will be Thursday, September 5, 2024 at 11 a.m. at St Peters Lutheran Church in Glasford. Additional visitation will be one hour prior to the services on Thursday at the church.
Burial will be in Smithville Cemetery.
